Overview
The Bible is the most influential—and frequently misunderstood—book in history. It has shaped civilizations, inspired reformers, comforted sufferers, provoked revolutions, and transformed billions of lives. Yet many people struggle to understand how its sixty-six books, dozens of authors, and centuries of history fit together.
In this two-hour seminar, Mike Woodruff will provide a high-level overview of the Bible’s historical setting, literary structure, and central theological message. We will trace the story from creation to new creation, explore the major turning points in biblical history, and see how the Old and New Testaments form one coherent narrative centered on God’s work of redemption.
Whether you are new to the Bible or have studied it for years, this seminar will help you see the forest—not just the trees—and read Scripture with greater clarity, confidence, and appreciation.

Mike Woodruff
Senior Pastor and Lakelight Board Chairman
Mike Woodruff has served as the Senior Pastor at Christ Church Lake Forest since 2002. Prior to this he was a college pastor (’85-92), and a management consultant. Mike has published several hundred articles and written or edited ten books. He has degrees from DePauw University and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
